Benefiting from eastern exposure, the vineyards for this appellation are located both on the slopes above and in the valley basin below the village of Flagey-Echezeaux, between Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits.
SoilThe vines grow in very stony brown limestone soil that overlies hard Bathonian limestone. Our plot faces east at an altitude of 300 m. Its steep slope ensures good exposure to the sun.
Grape variety100 % Pinot Noir.
VinificationTraditional Burgundian vinification in open vats with long maceration and punching of the cap. Aged in oak barrels (50 to 60% new oak) for 14 to 18 months to lend harmony to the wine and ensure optimal maturity.
RobeBeautiful, brilliant deep ruby red in colour.
NosePredominant aromas of stone fruits with notes of forest undergrowth. Over time, the nose will develop notes of musk, leather and mushrooms.
PalateFull-bodied and voluptuous with harmonious oaked notes. The finish is incredibly long and reminiscent of bitter chocolate.
Serve withThis wine would be a fine match for finely prepared choice cuts of red meat, all types of game cooked in wine, stewed or roasted. Try it with tournedos Rossini, woodcock with porcini mushrooms or venison steak in a Port reduction. As for dessert, match it with warm chocolate and matcha tea lava cake or a pear and blackcurrant vacherin.
