Location
Some of Burgundy’s most renowned red wines are produced in this village, which is located in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits. Wine made from grapes grown in the communes of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echezeaux are entitled to bear the Vosne-Romanée appellation.
Soil The vines benefit from eastern exposure and thrive in brown soil containing a high proportion of extremely fissured limestone, which allows for better drainage.
Grape variety 100 % Pinot Noir.
Vinification Traditional Burgundian vinification in open vats with long maceration and punching of the cap. Aged in oak barrels (25 to 30% new oak) for 14 to 16 months to lend structure and complexity to the wine.
Robe Lovely deep ruby red in colour.
Nose Predominant notes of oak with a touch of vanilla, which lends both finesse and intensity.
Palate Gorgeous tannic structure with nice density. A lovely finish ending on a note of mild spices. A very elegant wine.
Serve with Try this structured, full-bodied wine with red meat, stewed game and most cheeses. Pair it with veal shank with mild spices and coriander, braised beef with seasonal vegetables or pork tenderloin with grapes.
